Upper Sunshine Reservoir

Starting at Meeteetse, go approximately 11 miles west on Highway 290 and turn south on County Road 5XS for 2.5 miles.

There are a couple of boat launch areas and a restroom on the west side of the reservoir which are accessed by a good gravel road. There are many undeveloped places to camp. Reservoir levels can fluctuate greatly.

A primitive road provides access to the east side of the reservoir.

Fishing for cutthroats in 4-10 feet of water is excellent from shore in the spring (early April to mid June), with 16 inch fish very common.

Pods of fish cruise the shorelines and often hang out around points.

Ice fishing is also excellent.

Summer fishing is better with a boat or float tube.
