Community Events

Our chapter strives to engage our local communities to increase youth involvement and participation with our natural resources and coldwater conservation. In 2025 we led or participated in the following events:
 

  • January- May- Trout in the Classroom, 9 schools in Bighorn Basin.

  • April- Shoshone River Clean up.

  • May- Community Fly Fishing Fair with over 80 participants.

  • June- Kids Fishing Day with free rods and gear for over 300 kids.

  • July-August- First Fish on a Fly mentoring program.

  • July- Fly Fishing Workshop with Buffalo Bill Center of the West.

  • October- STEM Day at Livingston Elementary.

  • October- Annual Fish Rescue- over 4,000 fish rescued by 170 volunteers!

In addition the chapter stays engaged with advocacy issues like protecting public lands, collaboration with other non-profits, and commenting on regulations and development proposals that threaten water quality:

  • January- Awarded Commissioners tag from Commissioner Lundvall.

  • Helped launch the Thermopolis TU Chapter.

  • Brittany Swope, TU Bighorn Basin Coordinator, recognized by Forest Service with a Rise to the Future award.

  • Commented on North Fork Shoshone, North Platte Fishing Regulations.

  • Participation in Yellowstone National Park on Cutthroat Recovery

  • Worked with DEQ on water quality issues related to Old Faithful RV Park.

  • Comments, op-ed on protecting and preserving public lands.

  • Participation in Shoshone River Partnership and Willwood Working Group.

  • Participation in Park County Outdoor Recreation Collaborative.

  • Leadership with the Newton Lake Workgroup.
