East Newton Lake

Newton Lakes were the focus of the newly formed Cody Trout Unlimited Chapter. West Newton Lake is managed as a family fishery. East Newton Lake is a trophy catch and release fishery. When drought and geologic changes threatened the survival of the lakes, a collection of public and private groups, including the newly formed TU chapter, came to the rescue. By an agreement, Wyoming Game and Fish Department took over management in 1986.

Recently, water sampling has begun on East Newton Lake to determine if lake-wide treatment will produce larger trout.
